APPROVAL GUIDE
This is the latest edition of the New Zealand Arboricultural Industry ‘Approved
Contractor Scheme’ published by the New Zealand Arboricultural Association
(NZAA) Inc.
The Approved Contractor Scheme is available to all arboricultural contracting
companies in New Zealand. The Assessment criteria are sufficiently flexible to apply to both large and small arboricultural businesses.
The Approved Contractor Scheme will be continuously reviewed, improved and upgraded using the assistance and advice from individuals in the New Zealand tree care industry.

APPROVED CODE OF PRACTICE FOR SAFETY IN TREE WORK PART TWO:
Maintenance of Trees Around Overhead Electric Lines
Scope
This Code contains minimum safety requirements for maintenance of vegetation in close proximity to overhead electric lines. This Code should be read in conjunction with The Arborists’ Code Part 1, the Asset Manager’s own code(s) of practice or operating standards, and the Service Provider’s work processes and procedures.
Purpose
This Code provides a standard and guidance for Asset Managers, Service Providers and Utility Arborists. It supports their achieving safe outcomes for personnel and electricity networks in the course of work with vegetation near overhead electric lines. The Code includes minimum requirements for Service Providers and Utility Arborists concerning the conduct of vegetation control work.
