Coordinator Arboriculture

The council has a vacancy for an enthusiastic person to join our Arboriculture Team. The position requires the daily supervision of a small team of staff that carry out tree care and maintenance operations (from tree planting to felling) across the district, which includes work in our iconic premier parks. A large component of the job is tree pruning by rope and harness.
Applicants for the position will preferably have:
• A relevant qualification in the arboriculture industry.
• Practical field experience in leading a team.
• Experience in the operation of arboricultural equipment and machinery.
• Demonstrated competency in the supervision of development of staff.
• Familiarity with professional industry standards, procedures and practices.
• A driver's licence for relevant vehicle classes.

We are seeking experienced Arborists to join our client’s arboriculture crews in permanent and contract positions across all levels. These roles offer great remuneration, safe working conditions, ongoing training, and first class equipment.

You must be reliable and show a willingness to learn. A HT license, class 2 and 4 is preferred, or the motivation and ability to obtain one. Power line and rail experience is advantageous. The successful applicant must have physical ability to undertake the tasks that come with the job.
This is an opportunity to work with leading Arboriculture Companies, with great teams in the outdoors. Our clients provide services in all aspects of the arboriculture industry. This includes, but is not limited to, tree pruning, transplanting, consultancy, and manually removing trees in confined spaces, by crane or helicopter.
The ability to work safely, communicate effectively, and to assume responsibility are keys to successes in these roles.

With the significant level of development taking place within North Shore City, we seek someone who thrives on job variety and the opportunities that come with working alongside a highly motivated and friendly team.
This is your chance to assess and comment on a wide range of resource consents from an arboricultural perspective as well as further develop your report writing skills. You must be familiar with all aspects of currently accepted arboriculture practice and be able to practically apply your knowledge of tree preservation and management to the challenges associated with urban development.
As you will be providing technical arboricultural support and advice to staff, elected members and the public, you will need to be computer literate, have a strong customer service ethic and proven report writing ability. A suitable qualification in Arboriculture (NZQA Level 4 or similar), practical and tree surgery experience as well as a working knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 are essential.
